To maximize our spooky consumption before Halloween, Montrealers are treated to a week of horror film screenings at one of the city’s coolest cinemas .
There are classics and new favorites – from cult films of the ’70s to the latest Frankenstein starring Jacob Elordi and Mia Goth.
From Friday October 24 to Friday October 31, we’re going to Cinéma Moderne to brush up on our classics during Horror Week…
Gothic, science fiction, witches, monsters and sheer terror
For fans of the gothic, of convoluted black-and-white castles and elongated shadows, of wide-open eyes and morbid romanticism, there will be screenings of The Bride of Frankenstein, Witchhammer and Guillermo del Toro’s brand-new Frankenstein .
For those who prefer science fiction, transforming bodies, failed experiments and mad scientists, there will be screenings of Tie Man, Re-animator and Lifeforce. Also in this category is the very strange and unclassifiable Eyes of Fire.
For those who love pure, architectural, complex and paranoid terror, Dario Argento’s cult film Deep Red will be screened in a restored version to mark its 50th anniversary.
For naturopaths and witches, there will be screenings of The Witch and The Craft.
We’ve got the full program of films screened during Modern Cinema Horror Week – and our next spooky season nightmares – here…
