Spring is here (technically, even if it’s still cold) and with it comes something gentle and promising in the sunlight in Montreal. Still bundled up in coats, we can already taste the rain and fresh grass on the tip of our tongues.
We want to dip our bare feet in the water, get away from the city’s concrete, and breathe in the country air. And to trick ourselves into thinking it’s much warmer than it actually is, we recommend taking a stroll in Hudson, in the Montérégie region.
If we stare really, really hard at the snow, we can make it melt, right?
Hudson, Montérégie
Less than an hour from downtown Montreal, Hudsonis a small village on the shores of Lake des Deux-Montagnes. We’ve put together an itinerary featuring our favorite spots in Hudson so you can pretend you’re on a spring break…
A stroll—on Lake Deux-Montagnes
We recommend starting the daywith a walk in Jack Layton Park, wearing a (hand-knitted) scarf around your neck and a pair of rain boots.

Lake des Deux-Montagnes is one of the prettiest in the area, like a postcard, and if you concentrate, you can imagine summer—and dip your hand in the water to see if it’s cool or very, very cool.

Sandy Beach, the most popularbeach in the area, was recently purchased by the municipality of Hudson to restore the natural biodiversity of the lakeshore. For now, it’s closed to the public (as of March 2026), and we’re waiting for summer to find out if we’ll be able to swim there.

A cup of tea—at Maison Rose
For a touch of charm, we recommend stoppingby Maison Rose for tea—it looks like it stepped right out of an episode of Gilmore Girls.

An Antique Dealer – Ma Belle Vie
Because a stroll through Hudson’s utterly charming streets is the secret ingredient in our cure for winter blues, we recommend a long walk down Main Street. We also recommend stopping by one of our favorite antique shops, Ma Belle Vie.
