This year, Valentine’s Day falls on a Friday, and every restaurant in Montreal will be packed with couples celebrating their love. That’s all well and good, but what if you’re single? Don’t stress out – because on Thursday February 13, the evening will be reserved for celebrating – with friends – love, friendship and the joy of being together…
1.Get together for a movie night…
A good movie night is an excellent way to spend an evening with friends, and depending on how the demonstrative excesses of February 14th make you feel, you can choose to laugh, cry or make your heart beat a little (too) fast.
On the theme of love, here are a few suggestions… There’s L’Amour Ouf at 9pm at Cinéma Beaubien, to make your heart skip a beat. For an eternal, twisted love story, there’s Nosferatu at 9pm at Cinéma du Parc, and if you prefer a story that ends in bloodshed, there’s Companion playing in French at Cinéplex Odéon Quartier Latin at 9:10pm.
2.Chat over cocktails…
Montreal is bursting with places to enjoy a cocktail (with or without alcohol) and french fries with friends. We advise you to make a reservation, and to engage the group chat as soon as possible to decide which resto-bar you’ll be dining at on February 13th!
For example, you could enjoy a BB Tini and sardines at Bisou Bisou, or Martinis and a delicious pizza at Bernie’s…
Bernie’s: 3627 Sources Blvd, Dollard Des Ormeux, H9B 2K4
Bisou Bisou: 416 rue Saint Vincent, H3K 1H4
3.Go bowling…
Do singles still go bowling? Of course they do! A little taste of nostalgia, a sliver of competitive spirit and a glance exchanged with a player on the next lane… and it’s a strike !
To keep with the theme, we recommend the Darling, Je t’aime! bowling alley, which also features a 50s-style diner to refuel after a spirited game of bowling.
Darling’s: 3350 Ontario Street East, Montreal, Quebec H1W 1P7 – call (514) 522-7773 to reserve your lane in advance!
4.Relax with a visit to the spa…
Being single in mid-February can be stressful. Why not pamper yourself in a group? A little luxury and relaxation are well deserved!
The iconic Bota Bota spa is open until 8pm on Thursday evenings… A spa evening with friends is a great reason to leave work a little earlier than usual, isn’t it?
Bota Bota: Old Port of Montreal
5.Make new acquaintances and feast your eyes…
Join us at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts’ special Valentine’s Day Buvette evening, organized around works from the museum’s new exhibition “Joyce Wieland: À cœur battant” and featuring lots of surprises, accompanied by Frankie Teardrop’s electrifying turntables. Between 6 and 10 p.m., with friends or on your own! Click here to get your tickets!
Wishing you an excellent Galentine’s Day!
