To enjoy a day in the cool air this summer, to float in the waters of the beautiful Lac des Deux Montagnes, and to connect with nature under the Quebec summer sun, we’re heading to Bois-de-l’Île-Bizard Beach this summer.
The nearly untouched beach is part of the Bois-de-l’Île-Bizard Nature Park, which is about a 45-minute drive from downtown Montreal or a 1 hour and 45-minute trip by public transit via the REM to Fairview-Pointe-Claire and bus 207 to the Église/Chevremont stop.
You can have a picnic, go kayaking, bike, and take a stroll there. The nature park covers 216 hectares and features a wooded area, a large marsh, and plenty of spots for birdwatching and taking in the scenery—all with the pleasant scent of tall grasses warmed by the sun.
It’s a beach for lounging in the shade, not really for sunbathing or swimming the breaststroke. It’s for birdwatching, dipping your toes in the water, and breathing in the lake air.
The water isn’t very deep, and the shores retain their natural beauty—the ecosystem is thriving in the summer , and it’s one of the prettiest spots to introduce friends visiting from abroad, French travelers on a Working Holiday Visa, or kids who can touch the bottom to the cool waters of Quebec’s lakes.
