To celebrate its “Ten Years in the Dark!”, Cinéma du Parc is holding a special screening series that distills 10 years of its late-night Minuit au Parcseries betweenFebruary 27 and April 26, 2026.
For a program dedicated to midnight movies, Cinéma du Parc has chosen nine films that represent the different aspects of the works that are considered by film buffs and cinemas to bemidnight movies.
The selection was also made by the cinema, choosing films that were most loved by Montrealers during these 10 years ofMinuit au Parc.
“Genre cinema has always divided audiences, appealing to some while shocking others. Yet it is through these subversive works that part of the art of cinema has drawn its strength. Many innovative concepts were born from the creativity of their authors. During the midnight screenings of the time, this selection of films won over a large audience and demonstrated the profitability of so-called “difficult” works. This 10th edition of Minuit au Parc is the perfect opportunity to rediscover these classics.”
— Jean-François Lamarche, Programming Director
The program, origins, and Cinéma de Minuit
Late-night movie lovers can watch bizarre and underground films such as David Lynch’sEraserhead (1977), Hal Ashby’sHarold and Maude ( 1972), John Waters’ Pink Flamingos (1972), and the “acid western”El Topo (1970) by absurdist filmmaker Alejandro Jodorowsky.

There will also be thrillers (because crime tastes better at midnight, of course) that are a little less well known but worth discovering:Targets (1968) by Peter Bogdanovich and The Harder They Come (1972) by Perry Henzell.

And for purists and those who want to transform themselves into film students at night, complete with berets, cigarettes (chocolate ones) and a worrying obsession with the occult, there will be classics. Of course, we’ll be showing George A. Romero’sNight of the Living Dead (1968), Tod Browning’sFreaks (1932), and Jim Sharman’sThe Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975).
