It’s still cold out there, but that doesn’t mean you have to hibernate this weekend. On February 8th and 9th, there’s plenty to do to warm up… ice skating, bagels, culture and more – no time to get cold!
Saturday, February 8th
1.Ice skating
Saturday’s cold, sunny weather is the perfect combination for honing your skating skills. We recommend a (free) visit to the Lac-aux-Castors skating rink on Mount Royal, with family, friends or even on your own. Don’t worry, you can rent skates and everything else you need for a more or less smooth performance… And after the effort, we’ve heard that the hot chocolate in the rink’s pavilion can soothe all ills, even those of the ego!

2.Bagels
The new bagel restaurant Chez Greenberg offers dishes “inspired by Bubby’s (Grandma’s) cooking”, and it’s exactly the mix of nostalgia and novelty we’re looking for on a Saturday in February. Knish, bagels, salmon, you really don’t need anything more to have a great day! Bonus if you bring your Bubby along for a taste!

3.Party
It’s the final night of the year for Igloofest, and the last chance to dance under the snow and stars until next year!
Sunday, February 9th
1.Culture
It’s the first Sunday of the month, and that means some museums are free! Here are three exhibitions to warm you up this weekend:
-
- “Costume Balls: Dressing Up History 1870-1927″ at the McCord Museum, for fans of corsets and lace
-
- A visit to the Forges de Montréal, for those who like to play with fire
-
- “Winter in New France” at the Musée Saint-Gabriel, for history and wool stockings enthusiasts
2 Parade
Our hearts will be warm and our mittens will smell a little like wet dog, because Sunday is the Pawsome Dog Celebration. From noon to 3 p.m., it all kicks off at Square Sir George-Étienne Cartier (4544 Notre-Dame Ouest), with yoga with dogs, free hot chocolate and prizes to be won…
3.Pop Up
Konbit and MAI (Montréal Arts Interculturels) organize their 4th pop-up! “Love On Your Roots” is a hybrid event combining 8 sales booths, creative workshops, music, live painting and a few surprises we’ll let you in on…
It’s the coolest pop-up of the weekend, and a great way to celebrate local black artists and entrepreneurs!
And this Sunday, February 9, is also National Pizza Day! Find the best slice to celebrate it here!
Have a great weekend!
