Les Derniers Remparts takes you back to the dark days of the Inquisition in the Middle Ages. Created by the papacy, the Inquisition’s aim was to seek out, judge and condemn individuals suspected ofheresy in Carcassonne.
Tired of suffering this injustice, the citizens appealed to their lord for protection. While awaiting his arrival, they join forces with Simon – a young lord from the north – to protect the town. It’s into the heart of this atmosphere that Les Derniers Remparts plunges you, to defend the ramparts of Carcassonne and free its people.
As you fight, you’ll discover the doubts and hopes of the inhabitants, unravel secrets and defend justice.. . It’s a real adventure through history, peppered with fiction and emotion.
Encounters with key characters
Throughout the adventure, you’ll come face-to-face with key figures in the royal administration. Seneschal Guy Chevrier, Constable Geoffroy de Varenne, Inquisitor Geoffroy d’Ablis, dissident Elie Patrice… The key figures of 14th-century Carcassonne come to life before your very eyes. Other, surely less affluent, but equally important characters – such as villagers, soldiers and clergy – are also part of the story.
