Dammit, Janet! It’s been 50 years since the release of the cult film The Rocky Horror Picture Show , and this Halloween Montreal will be celebrating the queer film classic with 8 exceptional performances.
It’s all going to be in costume (with a contest), a troupe will accompany the film screening and we’ve been given a list of items to bring back with you – including a pair of rubber gloves (pink, of course).
From October 29 to November 1, 2025, there will be 8 performances of the Rocky Horror Picture Show Halloween Ball at Théâtre Rialto and Théâtre Décarie.

50 years of The Rocky Horror Picture Show
The Rocky Horror Picture Show was released in the UK on August 14, 1975. It was directed by Jim Sharman and stars Tim Curry (Dr. Frank-N-Furter), Susan Sarandon (Janet) and Barry Bostwick (Brad) -with a myhthical appearance by artist Meatloaf.
The film is based on the play of the same name by Richard O’Brien, adapted for the screen by its author.
It follows a newly-engaged young couple (Brad & Janet) who, when their car breaks down, stop at a castle inhabited by the mysterious Dr. Frank-N-Furter…

On its release, the film wasn’t a huge success – it was a rebellious, bizarre little project, and an alien at the box office. Since then, however, the film has become a cult classic and a true cultural and artistic phenomenon.
Today, interactive, costumed screening events around The Rocky Horror Picture Show are a phenomenon in fishnets and 60s white cotton underwear… 50 years after the fly, queer and musical film, the Rocky Horror Picture Show is still one of the coolest and most transgressive shows to see.
The Halloween Ball – The Rocky Horror Picture Show in Montreal
From October 29 to November 1, 2025, there will be 8 performances of the city’s only Rocky Horror Picture Show in two iconic Montreal theaters.
It’s called the Rocky Horror Picture Show Halloween Ball. There’ll be a screening of the film, massive audience participation (including dancing the “time warp”), a master of ceremonies to guide the evening, and a live troupe on stage.

There will also be a costume contest (to see who can best wear Dr. Frank-N-Furter’s corset and blue eyeshadow…).
For Halloween night or in preparation for it, for a date or a fun event with friends, literally any reason to go!
