Halloween is a whole season in Quebec, and in Montreal it’s a whole month of events and signature cocktails with names like boo-on-the-rocks and zombie-tini. In short,October is one of the best months of the year.
Of course, it’s also a month of intense competition; haunted houses (the most haunted), pumpkin spice lattes with natural syrup, concerts, decorations-it’s serious.
Montrealers rival each other in ingenuity for Halloween decorations in the city’s alleyways and most beautiful neighborhoods, and for an afternoon stroll it’s quite enchanting to go and see…
In Westmount…

In Westmount, you can see decorations as morbid as they are elaborate. And why not, given that it’s one of Montreal’s most upscale neighborhoods…
Walk around for the decorations, but also for the magnificent Victorian houses (all of which are probably haunted).
If we’re not too exhausted, we’ll continue up to Mont-Royal for some of the city’s most beautiful scenery…
At Notre-Dâme-de-Grace…

A very family-friendly neighborhood with beautiful semi-detached houses, Notre-Dâme-de-Grâce celebrates Halloween in a big way, especially around Monkland Village.
On Chester Avenue, you can visit a free mini haunted house created by the owners, and it’s most elaborate!
On the Plateau Mont-Royal…

Another family-friendly neighborhood, with duplexes and triplexes lining streets lined with century-old trees, the Plateau is the perfect place to stroll on a beautiful late-October day…
In Rosemont-Petite-Patrie…

A little further north of the Plateau is the kingdom of green alleyways! It’s a lovely neighborhood to stroll through and admire the home decorations and haunted houses that take place on Halloween night.
In Villeray…

Go even higher, and you’ll find Villeray-St-Michel-Parc-Extension.
This three-neighborhood borough is a Halloween must-see! It’s a children’s paradise, and the neighborhood is in the party mood from October 1!
Enjoy the ride and happy Halloween!
