We all have our own holiday traditions. Whether it’s hot chocolate by the lake at the cottage, decorating a tree with the family, a week on the beaches of the Caribbean – every year, Montrealers have a nostalgic activity that screams holiday.
Many of these nostalgic traditions include watching a movie – or a series of movies – with family, friends or loved ones. There are lots of them, and we all have our own favorite. The Grinch Who Stole Christmas, Miracle on 34th Street, Elf, Santa Claus is a Scumbag…
One holiday movie that everyone seems to agree on is the 1990 classic Home Alone . And on December 17, 2025, you can catch it at one of Montreal’s coolest galleries.
Home Alone at Galerie Foil
Galerie Foil, one of Montreal’s trendiest cafés this year, is hosting a one-night-only film evening to screen Chris Columbus’ Christmas classic Home Alone (1990).
After the Foil Frights series of Halloween screenings, the gallery is hosting Foil Frosts for the holiday season.
The film Home Alone (1990) follows a very young Macaulay Culkin when his family forgets him at home on their way to the airport – they’ve planned to spend Christmas week in Paris.
Kevin (Culkin) defends the family home from two thieves, played by actors Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern, with guerrilla-style traps.
The film is funny, nostalgic, and visually it’s like a big mug of hot chocolate with the mini marshmallows of our childhood…
