Thirty-four years after the release of their cult album *Nous Autres* (Victo, 1992)—a true masterpiece of unbridled creativity and free improvisation— Fred Frith and René Lussier are finally reunited.
This Saturday, September 26, 2026—four decades after their very first concert side by side at FIMAV (Victoriaville International Festival of Contemporary Music)—these two pioneers of contemporary music reignite the spark for an evening that rejects nostalgia from the outset.
Accompanied by the sharp, precise drumming of drummer Robbie Kuster, Frith and Lussier pick up where they left off in a musical friendship that has been on hold for a quarter of a century. Opening the show, Swedish-Canadian composer Erika Angell will set the stage for an extraordinary evening with her intense voice.
Calling all fans of improvisation , and off-the-beaten-path sounds: this performance, co-presented by Ok Là, Le Théâtre Outremont, and Pop Montréal, promises to be memorable.
And to explore another facet of the genre, The Jazz Room’s lineup is also worth checking out throughout the season. It’s the perfect spot to navigate between traditional jazz, swing sounds, and tribute nights to figures like Sinatra or Louis Armstrong.
