Summer started late in Montreal this year. In mid-May, we watched the first flowers bloom with a tear of emotion. And we had time to think very seriously about what we were going to wear when the sun would—finally!—warm up the city streets.
Because this summer, we’re not going to wear the same boring swimsuit as everyone else—the kind that gives you a headache because, by the pool, you run into five blondes in a row wearing the exact same one within ten minutes. Just like with our deceptively simple outfits, all sourced from our favorite vintage shops, we’re going to go for that little something extra.
And here’s the trick: customizing our (plain) bikinis with beads and charms at Bunny House, starting today.
Bunny House and the art of living more beautifully
The boutique-workshop is still almost a secret, located on the first floor of a semi-historic building on Rue Guy, and it feels a bit like stepping into the bedroom of the coolest girl in class—the one who hadthat accessorywe’d seen in*Cool* or*Teen Vogue* andwas the first to perfect the art ofwinged eyeliner.
What we loved about this girl was her individuality and hereffortlessfemininity. Ina world where we’re once again obsessed withcollectiblesand personalizing our look to stand out from an international uniformity fueled by social media and mass marketing,Bunny House isan oasis.
Kano and Cindy are a bit like those cool girls from school, the ones for whom everything seems easy—even though they’ve worked extremely hard to build their business. They opened Bunny House two yearsago, and ever since, their workshop has been constantly packed—with kids,father-daughter duos, groups of friends, Montrealers jumping on the latest trends, families, and those who semi-secretly collect the super-cute figurines and keychains.
The brand-new“Beaded Bikini Workshop” will let creative types personalize our bikinis for summer, in keeping with Bunny House’s signature philosophy of making life more beautiful. We’re thinking we’ll find a vintage bikini so we can have the most unique swimsuit on the sandy lakeside beaches this summer.
